Monmouthshire County Council will begin replacing the steps and footpath in the Dell, from Monday 17 March. This work is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.
During this time the steps and footpath, which connects Welsh Street to the Bank Street Car Park, will be closed and fenced off to ensure a safe environment for workers and the public.
For safety reasons, the play area will be closed during construction. The alternative nearest play area is available at the Danes, accessible from St. Kingsmark Avenue or Huntfield Road.
Additionally, the entrance through the town wall between Welsh Street Car Park and Castle Dell will be closed for three weeks starting from 17 March. It’s anticipated that this will reopen on Monday 7 April, depending on the progress of the work.
The project will result in an improved, safer walking route with enhanced accessibility for wheelchairs, pushchairs, and mobility scooters in readiness for the main park redevelopment.
This element of the park’s regeneration is funded through the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns Programme.
FDPC would like to thank everyone for their patience during this short period of work which is critical to the overall park redevelopment.
